What is the Pupil Premium?
Pupil Premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. Allocations are made based on the school which the eligible pupil attends at the time of the January school census. Pupil Premium can be used differently within each school setting to address the needs of its pupils in relation to its local context.
Currently at Wendron School we use the funding to:
i) provide 1:1 tuition and small group intervention work
ii) subsidise residential school trips, attendance at extra- curricular clubs and musical instrument tuition
iii) purchase educational resources to support learning (such as new laptops and software, keyboards, synthetic phonic reading materials)
Pupils that can benefit from this grant fall under 3 categories:
Pupils who are in receipt, or have ever been in receipt of, free school meals.
Looked after or adopted children.
If you feel your child may benefit from this grant please contact the school office for assistance in applying. You will only have to fill out the form once and all claims are treated with confidence.
