National Science Day
1st March 2018
British Science Week - 9th - 18th March
At school the children split up into family groups to take part in numerous activities planned throughout the day.
The areas covered were:
Polar Explorer / Power Rockets / Confusing Cans / Plastic Cheese / Poo from the past
Polar Explorer - pupils had to decide which 16 items they thought they would need for the sledge on their expedition to the South Pole.
Power Rockets - children used paper wrapped around a pencil to make a tube, they then made some fins which they attached.
The children used their puffing power to see how far their rockets would fly.
Confusing Cans - there were four cans with labels on, then there were other cans without labels and the pupils had work out which were which.
They rolled the cans to see how far they went, to see if they could identify if they were tin tomatoes, baked beans, dog food chicken soup.
Once they found obtained their results, they weighed the cans to check if they were correct.
